RALLY FOR CHANGE
A community rally focused on what’s being referred to as a ‘mental health and addictions crisis’ in Newfoundland and Labrador took place to raise awareness and discuss available recovery resources. The event was organized by Tina Olivero, whose 20-year-old son, Ben, tragically died of an overdose in downtown St. John’s. The rally was held at the Confederation Building, where both the Minister of Health and the Minister of Justice addressed the crowd, emphasizing the need for better support systems, including sober living options, to help those affected by the crisis.

We must educate and elevate understanding about addiction as a brain illness, where those affected cannot make decisions in their own best interest."
