Guardians of Recovery Foundation ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of everyone who visits this website, applies for our programs, or contacts our team — including residents, family members, donors, volunteers, and funders.

This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to guardiansofrecovery.foundation and any forms, applications, or communications connected to it.

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Contact and application information: name, email address, phone number, and any details you share through our contact forms, the Sober Living Homes application form, volunteer sign-up, or donation forms.
• Program-related information: where relevant to services such as our Disability Benefits Navigation Program or Sober Living Homes application, this may include sensitive personal information — for example, details related to disability status, health, or addiction recovery. We collect only what is necessary to provide the service you've requested, and we treat this information with particular care given its sensitive nature.
• Communications: messages you send us directly, by email, or through social media.
• Technical information: standard website usage data (such as pages visited) collected automatically through our hosting platform and third-party tools like Google reCAPTCHA, used to prevent spam on our forms.

We do not knowingly collect more information than we need for the purpose it was given to us.

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to inquiries and process applications for our programs and services
• Provide disability benefits navigation support and sober living program services
• Process donations and issue tax receipts where applicable
• Communicate updates about our programs, events, or advocacy work (only where you've opted in)
• Improve our website and services
• Meet legal, regulatory, and reporting obligations as a registered Canadian charity (CRA registration #7829673500001)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

• Service providers who help us operate the site or process applications (e.g., our website host, email provider, or payment processor for donations), under obligations to protect your information
• Government or funding bodies, only where required for program reporting or grant compliance, and only to the extent necessary

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Request corrections to inaccurate information
• Withdraw consent for us to use your information for non-essential purposes (such as newsletter communications), at any time
• Ask us to delete your information, subject to any legal or record-keeping obligations we have as a charity

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse, particularly given the sensitive nature of health and disability-related information some of our programs collect. However, no online transmission or storage system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

Our Job Skills Development program serves youth as well as adults. Where a participant is a minor, we work with a parent or guardian regarding consent and information collected for that program.
